Autumn 22: New Book, Music Residency & album planning
It’s been some time since I lasted posted and the summer is slipping further away… bring on the autumn! I love the autumn months and it feels great to knuckle down with music work and projects. So here’s a brief update of my plans over the next wee while…
I announced earlier this year that I was going to be working towards releasing my debut album and I still am! Progress is steady as I have now finished the recording and the album photography is complete also, so I’m very happy! I anticipated getting to the track mixing stage later in the recording week however, turned out we needed all the time for recording - do recording plans ever go to plan?! I can tell you now, it was so worth trying out new ideas with the production and I can’t wait to share the results!
So, I’m heading back to the studio next week to finish the mixing and mastering process and after that I can really begin the work to start promoting and planning the release. I anticipated being able to release the album later this year but due to being a little behind schedule in the studio, my release date is now going to be next spring time. This will give me more time to plan the release tour and generally make the most of the release :)
In the meantime, EXCITING NEWS: I will shortly be releasing my first music book! This will be the complete collection of the ‘Hygge Tunes’ series, so I’m super excited for that. Keep a look out as I’m aiming to begin pre-orders soon. Unfortunately I can’t give you an album in time for Christmas but I can give you a music book, so next best thing right? ;)
FINALLY, I wanted to share a project that I will be participating in from mid September. I was fortunate to get accepted into an environmentally focused music residency called Making Tracks. This is a month long residency with 7 other musicians from the UK and Europe, combining different music traditions with themes of nature. The residency will take place on the west coast of Scotland where we will work together on new music for two weeks while exchanging ideas, then we will go on tour to different cities in England as well as giving music workshops. Check out the Making Tracks website for more information about this unique residency and for the full musician line-up: https://makingtracksmusic.org/ - it’s going to be so good!
It will be great to learn of new ways that I can share and respond to environmental challenges through my own future work and collaborations, and I will be sharing my experiences from Making Tracks over the month through my social media channels. So bring on the autumn!
